That's melon soup with vanilla! When this was served by Loic's aunt, I wondered if she's been reading Bea's blog, since Bea had a recipe for this very soup a month ago today. Having sent her husband home from Paris a bit early, after Bea has wandered and shopped through her favorite arrondissements of Paris on her own, she finally settles on a place for lunch. When she tasted this soup, she asked for some clues about the recipe but they didn't divulge them, so when she got home, she reproduced the soup at home. This is the style in Bea's way of doing things that I love. I adored this soup and I think that Aunt Francois must have seen the blog. Otherwise, how would she know? Here is a link to Bea's recipe with gorgeous photos.
