Lucy I am so sorry about Sissy. I know how hard a death of pet is. Pet isn't even good enough a word, a furry member of the family is more like it. My mom has said before that pet owners are special people, because they welcome furry friends into their lives knowing that they will outlive them. I personally believe there is more than this physical life, more for our pets as well as people. Sorry for your loss.
Tace dear, you're so right about the wording. We never did call her a pet, because she was a respected member of the family. She knew that and acted accordingly, and it translated into the rare form of a total selfless cat. A cat that really made sure she did things right. Actually, I think she was the saint of cats. It was very good of your mother to teach you that young about having to give up on the life of a pet. One huge message for me from all of this is that I never contemplated the fact that Sissy wouldn't outlive me. I used to worry from time to time what she would do when I'd passed away. Strange, isn't it.
Chris, she was really special, you're right. In her last years I was calling her "baby" and referring to her as the "bebe" which freaked out the in-laws, when planning out our vacations.
Thanks, Kitt, for the sentiments. She was a good friend and companion.
Tracey, thanks for you kind words. We will have lots of memories to cherish from her long life.
Lucy - I am so sorry to hear about Sissy. You two had been together for so long. When you were travelling about, it always warmed my heart that you had a friend with you. She made me feel better because no matter what you had a part of home with you. I know you loved her so much. I picked gooseberries in the rain this morning and thought of you.Sending you a big hug and smooch.Clare
I am so sorry for your loss - she was a beautiful little baby and I know that she knew that she was much loved in this life. I know this loss is hard to bear - time will help heal. I wish you all the best.
Sister Girl was a special cat. You could see it in her eyes. How wonderful it was that the two of you could share time together. Your flowers for her are lovely, just perfect. You will miss her, we know. She must have been a great companion and friend. We are sorry for your loss.
It's obvious you loved Sissy well, gave her a nice home, a place to belong, and took good care of her. She was a lucky kitty, and I'm sure she enriched your life very much as well. My hope is that with time the pain will be replaced with especially happy memories of your dear Sissy. ((gentle hugs))
